Western Wyoming Community College is one of Wyoming’s seven community colleges. Established in 1958, the school caters to recent high school graduates and adult learners. In fact, the average age of Western Wyoming Community College’s students is 27, according to the school. The college offers a variety of learning options, as well as services such as its Children’s Center, which provides a preschool program for students, staff, and faculty.
Western Wyoming Community College offers a number of two-year associate degrees and certificates through distance learning. Areas of study include criminal justice, general studies, social science, social work, sociology, accounting, business administration, computer information systems, and marketing. Through partnerships with four-year colleges and universities, students also have the opportunity to continue their education at the bachelor’s and master’s levels without having to leave the school. Western Wyoming has transfer agreements with eight universities, including the University of Wyoming, where students can continue their studies online. Western Wyoming Community College has been regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1976.
Students interested in attending Western Wyoming Community College can apply for admission online. In addition to completing an application, students must also send official high school or GED transcripts, as well as official transcripts from all previously attended colleges to the admissions department. Once they’ve been accepted, students will meet with an admissions counselor. They must also take the COMPASS placement test to determine they need to take remedial courses.
