Eastern Wyoming College is a public community college in rural Wyoming. It opened its doors in 1948 to a first class of 16 students, and since then the college has grown to serving nearly 1,800 learners in credit courses, and an additional 8,000 students in non-credit activities. The college is located in Torrington, Wyo., as well as serves students through several outreach centers throughout the region. Students can earn associate degrees and certificates in a variety of career-focused programs, or prepare to transfer to a four-year institution.
Eastern Wyoming College offers several associate degree programs through distance education, including in business administration and criminal justice. The school also offers an online interdisciplinary studies degree, which is a broad-based degree that can transfer to a four-year college or university. Courses are delivered by compressed video, Wyoming Public Television, videotape, or the internet using the school’s course management system. The school has several specialized services for its distance learners, including a library, virtual bookstore, outreach office, learning skills lab, and tutors.
Eastern Wyoming College has been regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1976.
Eastern Wyoming College doesn’t charge an application fee. Students must only submit an application, and the school recommends they also provide an official high school transcript or GED certificate, ACT or SAT scores, and college transcripts. Keep in mind that these results are used for academic advising, career planning, and scholarship eligibility and not as admissions criteria. Non-degree seeking students do not need to apply to register for classes.
