Blue Ridge Community and Technical College’s roots go back to 1974, when Shepherd College began offering a two-year nursing degree program. Known as the Community and Technical College of Shepherd, it was located on the basement floor of a Shepherd residence hall. After a few more moves, it was renamed Blue Ridge Community and Technical College in 2006. It ultimately found a permanent home on a 46-acre campus in Martinsburg, W.Va. Today, it awards associate degrees, certificates, and certification in a variety of professional fields, including nursing.
Students can choose from a number of associate degree and certificate programs. Areas of study include liberal arts, business administration, and allied health. The school also offers career advancement education, which can be earned in fewer than three months. Some courses are offered online through Blackboard. Students can take an online student orientation that covers the basics of the online class, computer requirements and necessary technical skills, how to navigate the online classroom, and campus resources available to online students.
Blue Ridge Community and Technical College has been regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 2005.
