Vermont

The Vermont State Board of Education supervises and manages the Department of Education in Vermont and the public school system and is responsible for the disbursement of funds, student performance standards, and independent school approval. Vermont education also benefits from several post-secondary institutions, such as the Association of Vermont Independent Colleges, the Consortium of Vermont Colleges, the Vermont Higher Education Council, and the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation. Vermont has 24 higher education institutions, more colleges per capita than any other state in the United States. Vermont State Colleges comprises five of the state’s colleges: Community College of Vermont, Johnson State College, Lyndon State College, Vermont Technical College, and Castleton State College.
