Middle Tennessee State University is a public, state institution in Murfreesboro, Tenn. It was first established in 1911 and is oldest institution of higher learning in the state. The school is well-known for its music and recording industry programs, which cater to students hoping to enter the prominent music, recording, and song-writing industries in Tennessee. Some of the school’s notable alumni include singer and songwriter Hilary Scott of the band Lady Antebellum and Albert Gore Sr., father of former U.S. Vice President Al Gore.
