Trident Technical College is a public two-year career-training institution that serves more than 16,000 students at its campus in Charleston, S.C. The school was formed in 1973 when Palmer College and Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Technical Education Center merged. It offers a range of associate and certificate programs to students looking for the skills they need to directly enter the workforce. The college also offers programs for students interested in transferring to a four-year college or university.

Programs Offered

Trident Tech’s offerings career-training and liberal arts curriculums suit a variety of goals and academic interests. Some available majors include aircraft maintenance technology, administrative office technology, accounting, human services, dental services, social science, English, history, political science, cosmetology, criminal justice, paralegal studies, biology, mathematics, and developmental studies. Trident Technical College also has options for students interested in online learning. Courses are available in areas such as accounting, allied health, business, computer technology, English, history, management, marketing, psychology, religion, and sociology.

Accreditation

Trident Technical College has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1974. In addition, programs in cosmetology, dental assisting, dental hygiene, occupational therapy assisting, physical therapy assisting, radiologic technology, and nursing have received specialized accreditation.

Admissions

Trident Technical College offers an online application form for prospective students. The school has an open admissions policy. However, students must still submit a $30 nonrefundable application fee and all supporting documents in a timely manner. Official high school transcripts or GED test scores are required. Applicants who have completed other college course work prior to enrolling should also submit these transcripts.
