Harrisburg Area Community College is a two-year public institution. The school was established in 1964 to provide professional and personal growth opportunities for area residents. Today, their main campus serves more than 22,000 students. Additional campuses are also located in Gettysburg, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York. A variety of certificate and associate degree programs are available in career-training and liberal arts areas.

Available areas of study include art, business, education, engineering, hospitality and tourism, industrial technology, legal studies, nursing, psychology, and sociology. Online opportunities are also offered through HACC, ideal for working adults and those trying to balance family responsibilities with educational and professional pursuits. Areas of study for distance learners include accounting, psychology, business administration, crime and justice, and information systems.
Harrisburg Area Community College has been accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since 1967. In addition, programs in dental assisting, dental hygiene, and nursing have earned specialized accreditation.
Those interested in enrolling at Harrisburg Area Community College can submit their application via the school’s website. If they prefer, a paper copy of the application is also available for download. A $35 application fee is due at the time of submission. Students will need to request their official high school transcripts or proof of completion for a GED program be sent to the HACC admissions office. If students have completed any other college course work prior to enrolling, they will need to submit these transcripts as well. The school has an open admissions policy.
