University of Scranton Online

A private, faith-based university, the University of Scranton was founded in 1888. The university follows Catholic and Jesuit traditions, while educating students in a variety of fields. The University of Scranton campus is located in Pennsylvania, where it offers bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctoral programs. Programs Offered

The University of Scranton’s online program offers two degree paths for students seeking a master’s in education. The first path is a master’s in curriculum and instruction, which provides students with a strong framework in research and instruction. It is geared toward teachers that want to strengthen their instructional methods and advance their careers. Dedicated students can complete the program in 14 months. The second program is a master’s in educational administration. It is designed for teachers and other educators who want to move into the administrative offices. Classes teach skills like staff management, educational policy, and financial responsibility, which are all necessary for administrative and management positions within the field of education. The master’s in educational administration has a practicum component to help students put what they learn in the classroom into practice.

In addition to the education online program, the University of Scranton Online also offers online master’s degrees in business-related fields — business administration and human resources. Both programs encourage students to develop a strong foundation in ethics, responsibility, and personnel management. Students can choose to specialize in healthcare management, operations management, and enterprise resource planning.

Admissions

The online master’s of education program at the University of Scranton has rolling admissions. Students can enroll at any time, and can start classes at six times throughout the calendar year. As the online program is a master’s program, students must hold at least a bachelor’s degree prior to admittance into the university. Work experience within the field is recommended.
