Strayer University Online

Strayer University is a private, four-college institution specializing in providing affordable, flexible education to working adults. It has a large national presence, with more than 90 campuses across the country in more than 20 states. With more than 60,000 students, it’s also one of the largest postsecondary institutions in the county; according to the most recent figures from the U.S. Department of Education, Strayer is ranked seventh among degree-granting universities in the U.S. The institution continues to grow, nearly doubling its number of campuses in the past five years alone, as well as reaching students across the world online through its distance-learning program, launched in 1996.

Programs Offered

Strayer’s programs are geared toward providing students marketable skills and training needed to advance their careers or start a job in a new field right away. To that end, students don’t take electives in courses like creative writing or philosophy; rather, classes are geared toward addressing common, real-world challenges and providing both practical and theoretical knowledge of in-demand fields. Areas of study include accounting, business administration, education, criminal justice, health services administration, marketing, and — one of its most popular areas — information technology, with degrees awarded at the associate, bachelor’s, and master’s levels. Program availability varies by campus. Online students can choose from a number of master’s degrees, with areas of study including business administration, education, health services administration, public administration, accounting, information systems, and management.

Accreditation

Strayer University has been regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since 1981.
