Schiller International University was founded in 1964 with the overarching purpose of promoting international understanding and bringing the American higher education model to Europe. The university was first established in Germany, opening in a historic castle in Ingersheim with 35 students. Today, the university has expanded to encompass campuses in Largo, Fla.; Madrid, Spain; Paris, France; Heidelberg, Germany; and online. The curriculum in SIU’s programs has an international focus, regardless of whether students are studying on American soil, overseas, or online. To date, Schiller International University has provided a higher education to more than 20,000 students from more than 100 nations.
Schiller International University Online offers a variety of associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs fully online. Students can earn an online associate or bachelor’s degree in international business. Other online bachelor’s degrees include international relations and diplomacy and one in interdisciplinary studies. Online graduate programs include a general online MBA and options to specialize in areas like international business, international hospitality and tourism, information technology management, or financial planning. Finally, students can earn master’s degrees in international relations and diplomacy, or international management. SIU Online’s programs are ideally suited for those who currently work for companies or organizations with an online presence, or who intend to work for such companies.
Schiller International University is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. The university has maintained this accreditation since 1983.
SIU offers open enrollment year-round so prospective students are not limited by restrictive application deadlines. To qualify for admission, applicants must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and be at least 18 years old unless an age exception is made. Applicants who are, or who have been, full-time workers should submit a resume. Those applying to graduate programs must possess a bachelor’s degree in the subject area they are pursuing at the graduate level, with the exception of the Master of International Management program, for which applicants may possess a bachelor’s degree in any area. Applicants who have undergraduate degrees in an unrelated area will need to take prerequisite courses. Graduate applicants should have an undergraduate GPA of 2.4 or higher, or otherwise submit a minimum GMAT score of 450 to receive provisional admission in which a student must prove he or she can perform well doing graduate-level work. Applicants must also submit a resume for entry into graduate programs. Those applying to online programs must submit a Student Self-Evaluation Checklist and a Survey of Student Technology to gauge the their readiness for learning in an online environment, in addition to the admissions requirements listed above.
