San Joaquin Valley College was founded in 1977 and has evolved into a private junior college with nine campuses in different parts of California. In addition to these physical campuses, SJVC has an online division to better serve the modern student. The college offers career-focused education geared toward preparing students for the job market. SJVC students enjoy the advantages of small class sizes, flexible schedules for working adults, and year-round courses. The school also provides students with the chance to enroll in short-term programs that prepare students more quickly for the workforce by giving them hands-on learning and helping them find a job after graduation or completion of a program. Today, more than 20,000 graduates have gained a higher education at SJVC.
SJVC’s online campus offers a limited number of programs in business and medical fields, and courses are offered both asynchronously (where students can log in at any time of day) and synchronously (allowing students to take part in live classroom sessions online at a set time in the day). Online business programs include administrative healthcare management, business administration, construction management, and human resource administration. Medical-related online programs include clinical and administrative medical assisting, and clinical medical assisting. Many of these programs prepare students to earn key certifications that will be valuable for helping them attain a job after graduation. In addition, many programs are available either as certificate or associate degree programs, depending on the amount of time the student wants to spend in school and the student’s specific career goals.
San Joaquin Valley College is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges.
