San Diego Christian College was founded in 1970 under the name Christian Heritage College, and awarded its first degrees in 1973. The Southern Baptist-affiliated college took on its current name in 2005. Today, the college continues to provide students with a Christian liberal arts education, attracting students from 29 states and 14 nations. In addition to programs offered through the traditional campus, San Diego Christian College offers a limited number of online degree programs to better meet the educational needs of adult students. Courses delivered through these online programs are asynchronous, meaning students can log in at the time of day that makes the most sense with their work schedule. Students who are new to online education will be given an orientation to familiarize them with online learning.
San Diego Christian College Online offers programs in business management, Christian ministries, and human development fully online through its department of Adult Professional Studies. Business management students take core courses in management, communications, marketing, leadership, human resources management, financial analysis, statistics, and more, and Christian values are built up in courses in servant leadership and biblical perspectives. The degree in Christian ministry requires core courses like Biblical Foundations for Ministry, Communication for Ministry, Worship, Discipleship and Leadership, and Counseling for Ministry, and even requires the completion of a ministry internship. Finally, the human development program requires core courses in psychology, lifespan development, motivation and learning, counseling theory, crisis intervention, and more.
San Diego Christian College is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities. The college has maintained this accreditation since 1984.
