Founded in 1912, Saint Joseph’s College is a Catholic liberal arts school in Maine. The school values intellectual, spiritual, and social growth in students of all ages, with programs in liberal arts, sciences, nursing, and business offered at its Standish campus as well as online. Its distance learning division currently serves 2,500 students â€“ more than double the amount of students who attend on campus. Online programs start every month year-round, so students can start their educational career right away. The programs are self-directed, with assignments completed on a student’s own time, and they are geared towards working adults who are seeking professional development.
Online education at Saint Joseph’s College is offered through its Division of Graduate and Professional Studies. Students can earn master’s, bachelor’s, or associate degrees, as well as participate in certificate programs or take continuing education courses. Undergraduate and graduate areas of study include business administration, criminal justice, and nursing. Additional areas of study include human services, accountancy, and theological studies. The online school also awards a certificate of advanced graduate study, an innovative post-graduate program that allows students to take courses outside of their profession and degree area of their own design.
Saint Joseph’s College of Maine is regionally accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. It has held this distinction since 1961. The school also holds specialized accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
Prospective students applying to Saint Joseph’s undergraduate programs must be high school graduates with a GPA or C or better or possess a GED with a score of 2.0 or better. They must submit a high school transcript or a transcript of college course completed, if applicable. Acceptance into the program is provisional until six credits are successfully completed with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Then, a student may advance to matriculated status. Some programs may require prerequisites which much be completed before enrollment.
Graduate applicants can apply for and be submitted for a program at any time during the year. They must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of 2.5 or better and provide official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended. A GRE or GMAT score is not required. Some programs may also have prerequisites that must be completed prior to enrollment. Acceptance into the program is provisional until six credits are successfully completed with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
