The Congregation of Divine Providence founded Our Lady of the Lake University in 1895 as a Catholic institution. The university, located in San Antonio, Texas, is a well-respected and nationally recognized school. U.S. News & World Report awarded Our Lady of the Lake University with a Tier 1 ranking of universities in the west in 2011. The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education magazine awarded Our Lady of the Lake as the top private university in Texas awarding master’s degrees to Hispanics. Our Lady of the Lake University Online was only launched recently, but it provides a high-quality education with the same highly awarded standards of their campus offerings.
Our Lady of the Lake University Online offers two degree programs. The first is Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL). This program focuses on all aspects of leadership, critical thinking, cultural issues, and organizational structure and dynamic. The program also incorporates real-world application through assignments and challenges. The other degree program is Master of Business Administration (MBA), with concentrations in management and healthcare management. Both concentrations will cover theory, strategy, legal issues, ethics, marketing, finance, and many other business related issues. However, healthcare management will focus on how all of these apply specifically to the healthcare industry.
Our Lady of the Lake University gained institutional accreditation in 1923 from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges, a nationally recognized regional accrediting organization.
Our Lady of the Lake University Online requires all applicants to submit an application, official college transcripts showing that they have earned a bachelor’s degree, their resume, a personal statement, their GRE, GMAT, or MAT scores, and pay the application fee. MSOL applicants’ personal statement must be three to five double-spaced pages in length, focusing on their interest in the program and their professional goals. MBA applicants must have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least a 2.5, show that they have prepared for the MBA program based on the courses they have completed, and provide three professional references. MBA applicants must also either have three years of managerial experience or have an admissions interview.
