Ohio University Online

Ohio University was founded in 1804 and is the 9th-oldest university in the U.S. Ohio was ranked 14th in the nation for actual vs. predicted graduation rate, and 60th among public national universities by the U.S. News and World Report rankings for 2010-2011. In 2009, Forbes ranked Ohio 4th in the nation for research return on investment. Ohio University Online provides accredited degree programs to students without requiring them to set foot in a physical classroom.

Programs Offered

Ohio University Online offers a bachelor’s degree completion program that is designed for individuals who have started working toward a bachelor’s degree, but never finished. The program can be customized to the individual, depending on the amount of college credits they have earned, and allow them complete their bachelor’s degree. Ohio Online offers bachelor’s degree programs in nursing, technical and applied studies, and criminal justice. They also offer six master’s degree programs, including the Master in Coaching Education, Master of Engineering Management, and Master of Health Administration.

Accreditation

Ohio University gained accreditation in 1913 from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, The Higher Learning Commission. Several of their programs, such as nursing and education, have gained accreditation from nationally recognized accrediting organizations as well.

Admissions

Ohio University’s application deadline is February 1, and SAT or ACT scores must be submitted by March 1. There is an application fee of $45. Undergraduate applicants are required to submit an application, pay the fee, submit SAT or ACT scores, and high school transcripts. Specific requirements, such as class rank in high school, high school grade point average (GPA), and SAT/ACT scores, vary by program. Graduate applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, a minimum GPA of 3.0, and pass the graduate school entrance exam that is associated with the program they are pursuing, in addition to any requirements that are specific to the program they choose.
