Located in Cambridge, Mass., Lesley University was founded in 1909 by Edith Lesley Wolfard to provide professional instruction to kindergarten teachers. Wolfard’s vision was continued after her death, and by 1945 the school became Lesley College. In 2000, it became Lesley University shortly after merging with The Art Institute of Boston. Today, Lesley University offers programs in 23 states and online. It is among the largest providers of teacher education in the nation. The school offers more than 20 undergraduate majors and more than 90 bachelor’s, master’s, certificate, and doctoral programs.
Lesley University Online offers two bachelor’s degrees entirely online in business management and psychology. The degrees are designed for non-traditional students hoping to earn a degree while maintaining their current careers and family life. Prospective graduate students interested in pursuing their education with Lesley can also choose from a wide variety of master’s and certificate degrees in a number of fields. Most notably, educators can choose from five different education master’s degrees and seven different graduate certificate programs in areas like mathematics, science, and technology. Lesley also offers master’s and certificate degree programs in counseling, environmental studies, expressive therapies, intercultural relations, and several Master of Fine Arts programs. Prospective master’s students can even choose a serf-designed master’s program that lets students create their own M.A., M.Ed., or Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies by developing their own course material with a Lesley faculty advisor.
Lesley University Online is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, and the New England Collegiate Conference.
First-year students applying to Lesley must complete a online application from through the Common Application website, along with a Lesley College supplement form. You must also submit all high school transcripts, standardized test scores, and two letters of recommendation. The letters of recommendation should include one teacher and one personal reference. Lastly, first-year applicants must complete a personal interview with an admissions counselor. Transfer students must complete all of the above and include all college or university transcripts along with course descriptions for any courses your wish to transfer.
Students applying to Lesley’s online bachelor’s degree programs must complete an application with an application fee and submit any official school transcripts, two letters of recommendation, a two- to three-page written personal statement, and a resume. All post-graduate programs will have different application requirements based on the college and program, but they will likely require at least an application, all official undergraduate transcripts, two to three letters of recommendation, a written personal statement, and a personal interview.
