Kentucky Wesleyan can date its roots all the way back to 1866 when the Kentucky Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, voted to start a higher learning institution in Millersburg, Ky., following the Civil War. Now located in Owensboro, Ky., the school offers 40 majors and 11 pre-professional curriculums. The school has a student-to-faculty ration of 13 to 1, meaning that each student will likely receive plenty of one-on-one interaction with their instructors to facilitate better learning.Though the school has a small enrollment, with just 802 students, that student body represents 20 different states and 12 foreign countries, according to the school’s website. In addition, the school was ranked 23rd among regional southern colleges in the 2012 edition of the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges” publication.
