Herzing University opened in 1965 as a computer training institution, taking on the name Herzing Institute in 1970. In 2009, the school became Herzing University when it started making graduate programs available to students. From its humble beginnings, Herzing has grown into a multi-campus university with programs available on campus and online. Even though Herzing University offers career-focused curriculum, the university includes a general education component so that students receive a well-rounded higher education. Herzing University Online offers small class sizes where instructors are able to spend more time with students who need individual attention, and online students also have access to online library resources. To become better prepared for real-world work environments, online students complete work by themselves and in groups.
Herzing University Online offers 45 different undergraduate, graduate, and diploma programs fully online. Undergraduate degrees and diplomas are available in areas of healthcare, business, technology, design, and public safety. Programs include health information management, insurance billing and coding, accounting, business management, information technology, graphic design, criminal justice, and more. Herzing’s graduate degrees are available in business and nursing. These include eight different MBA options, including specializations in accounting, human resources, marketing, project management, and more. The MBA program can be completed in less than one year, making it beneficial to students who want to jump start their career quickly. In addition, students can choose from two different Master of Science in Nursing programs in nursing education or nursing management. These are geared toward experienced nurses who want to take their career in a different direction.
Herzing University is regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, The Higher Learning Commission. The university also holds specialized accreditation for specific programs at the online campus through the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.
The admissions process at Herzing University Online starts with speaking with an admissions advisor and completing an application online.
