Full Sail University Online

Full Sail University was established in 1979 to offer audio courses taught by industry professionals. With a mission to provide creative individuals with an education in entertainment, Full Sail initially offered programs in music and sound. It wasn’t long before film making was added to the list of studies, and today, Full Sail also has programs in design, animation, games, web design, and entertainment business. Through its online learning environment, Full Sail offers innovative degree programs to those pursuing entertainment careers throughout the country. In 2011, Full Sail was given the 21st Century Best Practices in Distance Learning Award by the United States Distance Learning Association.

Programs Offered

Full Sail Online offers seven master’s degrees, 13 bachelor’s degrees, and two graduate certificate programs. Online degree programs are similar to on-campus programs when it comes to number of credit hours required, quality of instruction, and type of coursework. There are six schools dedicated to film, art, music, game, design, and business. Along with more commonly seen degree programs in areas like Internet marketing and graphic design, students have the opportunity to enroll in bachelor’s degree programs like creative writing for entertainment, game art, and mobile development, as well as master’s degree programs in new media journalism and education media design and technology.

Full Sail is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.

Full Sail Online has a rolling admissions process with start dates beginning each month. All applicants must participate in an interview with an admissions advisor and/or complete an enrollment application form. Those applying for bachelor’s degree programs must submit proof of a high school diploma or GED certificate, and it is recommended, but not required, that they also submit two recommendation letters. For graduate degree programs, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution at which they had a minimum 2.5 GPA. Graduate applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, employer, or community leader.
