Established in 1878, Creighton University was founded upon a Jesuit vision with the goal of fostering individuals in the development of competence and compassion. Today, Creighton blends religion, curriculum, inquiry, and diversity together to promote students to graduate and use what they have learned to make a difference in the world. There are five program methods through which Creighton fulfills its mission: professional education, service learning, community service, faculty/staff outreach, and community resource. All of these methods are related in that they integrate service and real-life situations as supplements to the educational curriculum. The online program expands beyond the local community and encourages students to interact with others on a national level, through their peers and professors, thereby assisting them in networking with others. Creighton University is ranked 1st by U.S. News and Report‘s Regional University Midwest Rankings for 2012.
Creighton University’s online program employs course work that is just as challenging as its traditional classes. The degrees earned online are the same as the degrees earned in the physical classroom. The classes are small and consist of online forums and meetings to fulfill attendance requirements. The online programs from which potential students can choose include master’s degrees in information science, negotiation and dispute resolution, security analysis and portfolio management, and health care ethics. Creighton’s online programs also include a graduate certificate in negotiation and dispute resolution, a doctor of education in leadership, and a dual MD/MS degree in health care ethics. Within all of these programs, course work can be accessed via an online portal at any time, with a technology support desk open to students all day, every day.
Creighton University has been accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1916. It has continued to uphold a high standard of education and has therefore remained accredited. Creighton’s business school is also accredited by AACSB-international, an accrediting agency that recognizes universities that adhere to a strict standard of business education.
Creighton’s online university encourages students to contact an advisor as a first step toward the admissions process. By doing so, prospective students will be able to gain detailed information about the application process and what is required. Creighton’s website provides an online application for candidates. Prospective online graduate students should have at least a bachelor’s degree, and will be required to submit transcripts to the admissions office. There are other requirements as well, but they vary by program. Creighton recommends talking to an admissions representative to get more information.
