American InterContinental University

Founded in Europe in 1970, American Intercontinental University was purposed to provide students with an education that would prepare them for professional careers and opportunities in thriving industries. Today, AIU has campuses in Atlanta, South Florida, Houston, and London, along with a handful of success centers. Along with physical locations, AIU has become a leader in distance education, offering highly interactive online degree programs through its virtual campus. With more than 80,000 online graduates, it’s not surprising that AIU’s Virtual Campus was recognized by the 2009 Computerworld Honors Program as one of the “Best of the Best” in the Education and Academia category.

Programs Offered

Highly specialized curriculum, interactive coursework, and industry current are just a few ways that AIU describes their programs. At AIU, students have the chance to earn a college degree online through the virtual campus or traditionally through day, night, or weekend classes. Undergraduate and graduate programs are available through AIU’s schools of business, criminal justice, design, education, and information technology. These types of programs include three associate degree programs, more than 30 bachelor’s degree programs, and 19 master’s degree programs. More than 40 of these degree programs are available online so that students can earn a degree on their own schedule. In addition, adult learners can make college education a reality through AIU’s bachelor’s degree completion programs, which allow them to receive college credit through the Prior Learning Assessment program.
AIU also offers students dual concentration options, flexible scheduling options, and a part-time criminal justice program.

AIU is regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, The Higher Learning Commission. In addition, business and interior design programs at AIU have specialized accreditations from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs and the Council for Interior Design Accreditation.

First-time freshman applying to AIU must participate in an admissions interview and submit a completed application along with proof of high school graduation in the form of a high school transcript, diploma, GED transcript or certificate, or a DD-214 form.
