Cameron University is a public four-year institution located in Lawton, Okla. The school was originally founded in 1908 as Cameron State Agricultural College. By 1966, the school was authorized to grant bachelor’s degrees and became known as Cameron University in the 1990s. Today, the school has an enrollment of approximately 6,500 students. Associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and certificate programs are available for students with a wide variety of academic goals. In addition, Cameron also features a growing number of online education offerings.

Programs Offered

Individuals enrolling at Cameron University can choose from both undergraduate and graduate degrees across a range of academic areas. Available majors include education, psychology, health and physical education, art, communication, criminal justice, English, music, theatre arts, agriculture, military science, physical science, and interdisciplinary studies. Online learning options are also offered for students who need more flexibility in their curriculum. These include programs in business administration, organizational leadership, and interdisciplinary studies. While most course work can be completed through the online learning platform, proctored testing will typically be required for major exams throughout the term.

Accreditation

Cameron University was accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools from 1962 to 1969. The school was then reaccredited in 1973. Programs in music and teacher education have also earned specialized accreditation status.

Admissions

Students interested in enrolling at Cameron University can submit their application online or via mail. The school has an open admissions policy. However, to be eligible for admission, students must submit their official high school transcripts or proof of completion of a GED program and SAT or ACT score reports. There is also a $15 application fee. Transfer students must submit transcripts from all colleges they have attended.
