Williston State College is a public two-year institution located in northwestern North Dakota. The school was originally established as the University of North Dakota ? Williston in 1957. Today, the school serves just under 1000 students and offers certificate and associate degree programs in a variety of subject areas. Students interested in distance learning opportunities will also find options through WSC’s online campus.

Programs Offered

Williston State College has a number of career-training and liberal arts programs available across five academic departments. Available majors include agriculture, business management, education, English, history, engineering, health information management, massage therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, mathematics, physical science, welding technology, and veterinary medicine technology, to name a few. Continuing education and non-credit courses are also available for interested individuals. The school’s online campus provides working adults access to flexible and engaging programs. There are 12 degree and certificate programs currently offered including accounting, business management, medical billing and coding, liberal arts, medical administrative assisting, medical transcription, and speech-language pathology assisting.


Williston State College has been accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1972.


Students interested in enrolling at Williston State College can submit their application online. The school has an open admissions policy; however, there is a $35 application fee due at the time of submission. This fee can be paid via credit card, electronic check, or by mailing a check or money order to the admissions office. Additionally, students will need to arrange to have their official high school, and any possible college, transcripts sent to the school. Prospective students who have completed a GED program are eligible to apply. They just need to submit their official test results, demonstrating successful completion of the program. Up-to-date immunization records are required for all incoming students who wish to attend at least some classes on campus. Applicants who are 25 years old or younger and/or those with less than 24 semester hours of college credit will need to submit ACT or SAT score reports as well.
