Davidson College was established in 1837 as an independent liberal arts college in Davidson, N.C. Davidson has graduated 23 Rhodes Scholars and is ranked by U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges” as the eleventh best National Liberal Arts College and eighth Best Undergraduate Teaching. Through the Davidson Trust initiative, Davidson was the nation’s first liberal arts college to replace loans with grants in all financial aid packages. It is home to more than 20 NCAA Division I teams participating primarily in the Southern Conference.
Davidson has 21 majors and 12 concentrations through 24 departments and 20 programs. Students may choose an optional concentration within their major to address a specific area of study. Davidson provides pre-professional programs, including Pre-Law, Pre-Medicine, and a cooperative engineering dual degree program with Columbia University and Washington University. Students accepted to the engineering dual degree program attend Davidson for three or four years and attend the affiliated engineering school for the last two years. Davidson also maintains an ROTC and study abroad programs in countries including England, France, Ghana, India, Kenya, Peru and Spain.
The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited the Davidson College to award baccalaureate degrees since January of 1917.
Applicants must either complete and submit the Common Application with the Davidson Common Application Supplement and an application fee, or complete and submit the Davidson Application with a an application fee, either online or by mail. Applications should include an information and essays section, a secondary and mid-year school report, two teacher recommendations, a peer recommendation and official ACT or SAT results. Davidson also recommends that applicants taking the SAT submit two SAT Subject Test scores (mathematics and one of the applicant’s choosing) and applicants taking the ACT send results from the ACT Writing Test. Davidson does not offer interviews as a part of the application process. The application deadline is January 2.
