Located in Garden City, N.Y., Nassau Community College is a two-year public institution that was established in 1959. The school is part of the State University of New York system and currently serves more than 23,000 students. Certificate and associate degree programs are available for students looking to develop their technical skills or even transfer to a four-year institution. The school also offers 300 non-credit and continuing education courses to the local community. In fact, the school serves more than 15,000 continuing and professional students each year, many who opt to take evening, weekend, and online courses.
Nassau Community College offers programs in more than 70 areas of study for students with a variety of interests and career goals. For example, accounting, business administration, allied health care, art, biology, criminal justice, engineering technology, hospitality business, legal studies, marketing, psychology, and teacher education are just some of the programs available. Students interested in virtual learning options can enroll in either hybrid or fully online courses. These programs are ideal for working adults and non-traditional students looking to balance their family and professional schedules. Please note, while most course work in these online classes can be completed through Blackboard, the school’s virtual learning platform, students may be required to travel to campus or approved testing sites for proctored exams throughout the program.
Nassau Community College has been accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since 1967. Programs in funeral service education, physical therapy assisting, radiologic technology, music, and nursing have also earned specialized accreditation from industry-specific organizations.
The school has an open admissions policy and interested students can download the application via the NCC website. There is a $50 non-refundable fee for first-time students. This fee is $25 for students seeking re-admission. The application deadline for the fall semester is August 15thand January 5th is the deadline for the spring semester. Students seeking admission for the summer semester must submit their application by May 10th. Along with their application form, students should arrange for their high school and any relevant college transcripts to be sent to the admissions office in their original and certified form.
