Western Nevada College has been providing students with educational opportunities since its founding in 1971. The college offers more than 40 two and four-year degree programs to students at its campus in Carson City, Nev., and online. Western Nevada College has instruction centers in seven locations throughout the state to provide greater access to students.

Programs Offered

Western Nevada College offers a variety of online associate degrees, certificates, and one complete bachelor’s degree to distance learners. The programs are offered in many areas of study, including accounting, business, the arts, general studies, and the sciences. In addition to the complete programs, students can choose to supplement their traditional programs with individual online classes. This provides students with a greater level of flexibility in degree completion as online classes do not have residency requirements and allow the student to study on their own schedule. The online programs are designed to share the quality and rigor of their traditional counterparts and are accredited through the college.

Western Nevada College is accredited as a degree-granting institution by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The college is also accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission for its nursing associate degree programs.

Candidates for admission to Western Nevada College are eligible to attend if they are a high school graduate, hold a GED, or are at least 18 years old. Candidates must take a placement test before applying for admission. Scores from the placement test, a completed application, and the $15 application fee must be sent to the office of admissions for evaluation. If transferring from another college or university, applicants must submit official transcripts showing college credits earned. All applicants meet with a counselor and attend an in-person or online orientation after they have been admitted to the college. Students must apply for financial aid at the time of admission.
