Established in 2004, Touro University Nevada serves the educational needs of Nevada’s residents and students across the nation. The private, non-profit institution is a part of the Touro College and University System and a branch of its sister campus, Touro University California. Seventy-eight students made up the first class at the university and since that time, the school’s enrollment numbers have increased to more than 1,700 students. Programs of study focus on medicine, nursing, physical therapy, and other medical related fields. Due to its research endeavors, the school has received funding from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Schultz Engel Purpose Trust.

Programs Offered

Touro University Nevada offers several online degree bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs. Areas of study include camp administration and leadership, education, and nursing. Depending on the specific program, a portion or the entirety of the degree is completed online. Programs with limited residency requirements are at the graduate level. Certain programs require a specific major or licensure and several are offered at an accelerated pace. Distance learners are given access to valuable support services, including tutoring programs, academic counseling, and technical support.

Touro University Nevada is accredited by the Western Association of Colleges and Schools as a branch campus of the California location. Specialized accreditation was granted for specific programs by four other accrediting organizations.

Admission requirements vary depending on the program. Most online programs require a transfer of a portion of the degree’s credits and some level of licensure. For example, the RN to BSN program requires students to have completed 60 semester hours of the required general education and pre-requisite course work, as well as have an active state licensure as a registered nurse. Each program requires its own minimum grade point average (GPA). Students should review the specific requirements for each program, complete the appropriate application, and submit it along with all supporting documentation to the office of admissions. In some cases, medical applicants will have to undergo a background check and drug screening. Click here for more information regarding admissions.
