Established in 1875 by John A. McAfee, Park University is an independent, nonprofit private institution located in Parkville, Mo. Currently, Park University has 40 campuses located in 21 states and online with an overall enrollment of 25,500. Though the institution was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church for decades, it no longer holds that affiliation. Park University is ranked No. 107 in Regional Universities (Midwest) by U.S. News & World Report in the 2013 edition of Best Colleges. The school also holds the ranking of No. 149 in Public Affairs for Best Grad School Rankings. Students enrolled at Park University represent all 50 states and 103 countries.
Distance learners can choose from a large number of online degrees offered by Park University, available at the associate, bachelor’s, and master’s levels. More than 20 complete bachelor’s degrees, six master’s degrees, and multiple certificates provide students with the option to achieve their educational goals without being restricted by residency requirements or inflexible schedules. Online courses are delivered in accelerated, eight-week terms with five start dates. Interactive content and experienced faculty members teaching the curriculum provide students with a degree that is equally as challenging and rigorous as the on-campus counterparts. Park University received full accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools to award degrees. Specialized accreditation was awarded by the Missouri State Board of Nursing and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission for specialized programs.
In order for applicants to be considered for admission to Park University, candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent, have a cumulative 2.0 GPA in all previous college study, and submit a completed application for admission and payment to the university. A minimum of 30 credit hours completed through Park University with 12 hours in their major will be required in order to receive a degree from Park University. Only courses with a “C” grade or higher will be accepted for transfer. Park University requires official transcripts from high school and former colleges or universities to be sent directly to the admissions office. Within 48 hours of receiving all required documents, the admission decision will be made and applicants will be notified via email.
