The University of Maine at Augusta is a four-year, public institution located in the state’s capital city. The university also operates nine university college centers: Bath/Brunswick, Ellsworth, East Millinocket, Houlton, Norway/South Paris, Penquis/Dover-Foxcroft, Rockland, Rumford, and Saco. The University of Maine at Augusta has a campus in Bangor as well. UMA offers 18 undergraduate, 11 associate degree, and 13 certificate programs. The university has a student population of 4,943 and a student-to-faculty ratio of 17 to 1.

Programs Offered

The University of Maine at Augusta offers bachelor’s degree programs in areas including applied science, architecture, art, biology, business administration, computer information systems, dental hygiene, English, financial services, information and library services, jazz and contemporary music, justice studies, liberal studies, nursing, public administration, and social sciences. Associate degree programs are available in computer information systems, dental assisting, medical laboratory technology, nursing, and veterinary technology. Several bachelor’s degree programs are also offered online, including applied science, business administration, computer information systems, information and library services, justice studies, mental health and human services, public administration, and social sciences. Associate degree programs available online include business administration, computer information systems, information and library services, justice studies, liberal studies, and medical laboratory technology.

Accreditation

The New England Association of Schools and Colleges has accredited the University of Maine at Augusta since 1973.

Admissions

The UMA office of admissions sets a fall deadline of June 15. The deadline for the spring semester is November 15. Freshman applicants must complete and submit an application and request an official high school transcript be sent to the school. SAT or ACT scores must be submitted by August 31. Please note, UMA requires a $40 application fee. According to U.S. News & World Report, UMA had a fall acceptance rate of 95.7% in 2011.
