Kansas City Kansas Community College was founded in 1923 as a member of the Public School System of Kansas City, Kan. The school was named Kansas City Kansas Junior College in 1965, and the college officially became Kansas City Kansas Community College in 1979. The college has a student population of 7,555 and a student-to-faculty ratio of 17 to 1.

Programs Offered

Kansas City Kansas Community College offers study in allied health and nursing, business, humanities,fine arts, mathematics, science, computer technology, and social and behavioral sciences. Associate degree programs include accounting, addiction counseling, audio engineering, computer engineering technology, drafting, fire science, marketing, economics, fine arts, history, journalism, sociology, theatre, biology, business, chemistry, forensic chemistry, exercise science, and music technology. The college also offers technical certificate programs in addiction counseling, auto collision repair, computer repair, corrections, cosmetology, electrical technology, firefighting, health careers, homeland security, and medical assistant. Online classes are also available 24/7 through the school’s Division of Institutional Services. The Technical Education Center offers more than 20 technical skill training programs for office, computer technology, service and health, or trade and industrial employment.


The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited Kansas City Kansas Community College since 1951.


To be admitted to the school, applicants must complete an admissions application, which doesn’t require an application fee. Prospective students must also take a placement test that evaluates their math and English skills. Students will then make an appointment with advisor who will help enroll the student. Kansas City Kansas Community College accepts applicants on a rolling deadline. Online students may enroll online using the college’s WebAdvisor.
