Ivy Tech Community College-Central Indiana is a two-year, public institution based in Indianapolis. The college’s main campus serves 21,046 students and has a student-to-faculty ratio of 30 to 1. According to its website, Ivy Tech Community College is the largest state-wide community college with single accreditation in the U.S., and is the state’s largest public postsecondary institution. Ivy Tech operates more than 30 locations throughout Indiana. Ivy Tech also operates online degree programs, dual credit programs for high school students, and a college for working adults.
Ivy Tech offers several degree programs at the associate degree level. Associate degree programs offered include: accounting, manufacturing, agriculture, nursing, automotive technology, aviation maintenance, biotechnology, building construction management, business technology, dental hygiene, education, electrical engineering, human services, information security, kinesiology, radiation therapy, and visual communications. Ivy Tech also offers certificates within those areas, including programs in fundamental payroll, mechatronics, alternating fuels, brakes & suspension, construction technician, culinarian, automation controls, phlebotomy technician, network security, Microsoft Office specialist, hazardous materials, and polysomnography. Ivy Tech offers 350 online classes and 12 online degree programs. Online degree programs are available in accounting, business administration, computer information systems, criminal justice, general studies, information security, library technical assistant, manufacturing production and operations, and office administration.
Ivy Tech Community College-Central Indiana has been accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1969.
Ivy Tech Community College requires students to complete an application online or to print and submit a paper application to the nearest Ivy Tech Community College location. Ivy Tech’s application does not require an application fee. Students must also attend a new student orientation once the application has been submitted and the acceptance letter has been received (usually within 7-10 business days). New students then complete an assessment for class placement and meet with an advisor. Students may earn course credit through Prior Learning Assessment, including work experience, military service, and technical training in AmeriCorps or the Peace Corps. Ivy Tech also offers college credit through the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP).
