University of Florida (a.k.a. Florida, UF, or U of F) is a public research university in Gainesville, Florida. Established in 1853, it is one of the largest single-campus universities in the country, with over 50,000 students. It is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU).
Rankings & Recognition
University of Florida was ranked 36th in The Best Colleges 2011-2012 ranking of the top 50 colleges and universities in America. It has frequently been ranked in the top 50 by other major American rankings systems, including U.S. News & World Report, Forbes, Washington Monthly, Newsweek and Princeton Review. The school has also ranked high in international ranking systems like the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and Academic Ranking of World Universities. It has been recognized as one of the “Public Ivies”.
University of Floridais a large research university offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Comprised of 16 different colleges and numerous research centers and institutes, the university offers over 100 undergraduate majors and over 200 graduate degrees. The school also has a highly regarded and extremely competitive Honors Program that offers over 100 different courses exclusively for students in the program.
