Stanford University

Located between San Francisco and San Jose in the heart of Silicon Valley, Stanford University is recognized as one of the world’s leading research and teaching institutions.

stanford university

Stanford University is where Yahoo and Google both got their starts. It is the elite research and teaching institution in California.

A bit more about the history of Stanford:
Stanford was founded in 1885 by the former governor of California, Leland Stanford, who then became a U.S. Senator, and his wife, Jane Lathrop Stanford, as a memorial to their only son, Leland Stanford Jr., who died of typhoid in Europe a few weeks before his 16th birthday. The Stanfords used their farm lands to create the university, and hoped to establish a major research university in the West, the first of its kind. From its beginnings, Stanford has always been innovative and unlike the great Ivy League schools of the east; the Stanfords emphasized a well-balanced, liberal arts education rather than pragmatism that would allow students to become productive citizens. In addition, the university was established as a co-educational institution, enrolling both male and female students.

Stanford is by far the leading institution of its kind on the West Coast and a great selection for any serious student looking to obtain a career in the field of computers, science, education,or any field in the liberal arts as well.
